eDiscovery - Rule 26(a)

Rule 26(a) is the general provision governing discovery and covers a parties duty to disclose information. Parties must disclose the requested information within 30 days
from the request. This includes rule 26(a)(1)(B) which states:
"a copy of, or description by category and location of, all documents, electronically stored information, and tangible things that are in the possesion, custody, or
control of the party and that the disclosing party may use to support its claims or defenses, unless soley for impeachment;"
This means companies must be able to represent where & how data is stored, both electronically, and hard copy forms. In order to achieve these results, technology
must be in place to provide access to the requested information.
