BlackBall® Becomes Member of Intel Storage Community
SAN DIEGO - January 30, 2006 - BlackBall® Inc., a leading provider of unstructured data management software, today announced
it has joined the Intel® Storage Community (ISC). Through its membership in the ISC, BlackBall has early involvement with new Intel
roadmaps for expedient product delivery and participates in community design of new storage solutions.
"BlackBall has a strong commitment to providing leading-edge, standards-based solutions in the storage market," said Patricia Brown,
President and Chief Operating Officer of BlackBall. "We prove this by the investments we make in next generation platforms,
resulting in SearchIn™ NAS Edition that is built on Foundation™. Our participation in the Intel Storage Community will result
in better solutions released in a more timely fashion. We welcome the opportunity and look forward to working with these program
leaders."
As storage costs decline, Network Area Storage (NAS) is becoming increasingly common. As more complex file types are being stored,
it's becoming more difficult to find what is needed. BlackBall's SearchIn is a search and storage resource management solution that
combines a patent-pending keyword indexing methodology with real-time indexing technology. The product provides fast, accurate
searches and is ideal for embedded devices, such as NAS storage.
This system-level software automatically indexes files as they are saved to NAS network volumes, enhancing system performance and
search accuracy. The search index addresses the complexity of rich media files by understanding their specific metadata structures
and allows search queries to be narrowed to specific metadata fields. The solution offers complete security integration and supports
hundreds of asset formats, such as PDF, MS Office, and TIFF Images files, as well as MP3 music files, JPG digital photo files, and
WMV movie files.
"It is important to have leading software providers such as BlackBall as part of the Intel Storage Community," said Mike Wall,
General Manager Intel Storage Group Marketing. "By working closely with a broad community of storage solution providers to develop
products and services aligned with the latest Intel silicon roadmaps, Blackball plays an important role in accelerating the
deployment of innovative storage solutions."
BlackBall's SearchIn NAS Edition software runs on ApplianceWare's NAS Operating System on top of Intel's XScale processor technology.
The NAS Edition seamlessly integrates with other Editions in the SearchIn product line, including SearchIn Server Edition for 32-bit
Windows Server Operating Systems, RedHat, Debian, and SuSE Linux, Sun Solaris and Mac OS X. SearchIn Server Agents are also supported
for the NAS Edition and can be embedded into NAS storage and provide search support for the above operating systems plus HP-UX, IBM
AIX, and Novell NetWare. SearchIn is available as a free trial download at www.blackball.us.
