BlackBall® and Plasmon® Announce Strategic Partnership

BlackBall® and Plasmon® Announce Strategic Partnership

Award-winning Company Integrates Industrial-Strength Searches with Near-line Storage Libraries

SAN DIEGO - December 8, 2005 - BlackBall® Inc., a leading provider of unstructured data management search solutions, and Plasmon, the market leader for professional data archival systems, today announced a strategic partnership that will enable corporate end-users and network managers to more efficiently manage files and emails. The integrated solution combines BlackBall's SearchIn data search tool and Plasmon's UDO and DVD optical libraries to allow users to search and retrieve information stored on near-line media easily and quickly.

"The storage and management of data on archival media has become necessary in order for businesses to be compliant with Federal regulations, regardless of the specific regulatory standard," said Patricia Brown, President & Chief Operating Officer, BlackBall, Inc. "Searching for data and leveraging it into business information is now the challenge. "Integrating SearchIn's real-time indexing with Plasmon optical libraries represents a complete solution. We're excited about our new partnership and applying BlackBall's technology to a new market opportunity."

"The partnership between BlackBall and Plasmon enables organizations to provide compliant long term archival storage for their valuable data assets, while delivering rapid search and access capability to unstructured files, emails and valuable business data," said Andy Richards, Plasmon Vice President of Business Development. "Whether stored locally, remotely on network volumes, or on Plasmon UDO libraries, mission-critical information is protected for the life of the data and available without any operational snags."

Plasmon's flagship product, UDO (Ultra Density Optical), provides the permanence and authenticity of Write-Once technology at the lowest total cost of ownership. 30GB UDO technology was launched at the end of 2003, marking the completion of a four-year development program, which provides a 10-year roadmap to include capacity increases to 60GB and 120GB per disc. Timing for the release of UDO has proven to be advantageous as organizations are facing strict federal regulations that mandate how records and business data must be stored and maintained.

BlackBall's SearchIn Server Edition software runs on 32-bit Windows Server Operating Systems, RedHat, Debian, and SuSE Linux, Sun Solaris and Mac OS X. SearchIn Server Agents support the above plus HP-UX, AIX, and Novell NetWare. SearchIn Server is available as a free trial download at www.blackball.us. SearchIn Server Edition retails for $695.00, Server Edition Agents retail for $395.00, and SearchIn Professional Seat Licenses retail for $29.95.
